This cheese scone recipe is easy to make and is a great alternative to the usual boring lunchtime sandwich.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>100g butter<\/li>\n<li>200g self-raising flour<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp baking powder<\/li>\n<li>1 egg<\/li>\n<li>25ml milk<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp mustard<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 tsp dried oregano<\/li>\n<li>70g mature cheddar (2\/3 grated, 1\/3 diced into small cubes)<\/li>\n<li>salt and pepper<\/li>\n<li>a little Parmesan for topping<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Method:<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Preheat oven 200*C (180*C fan)<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Rub butter into flour, so it&#8217;s like breadcrumbs.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Add egg, salt, pepper, gradually add milk to make soft, not sticky, dough (do not overwork the dough).<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Mix in cheese, mustard and oregano<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Roll into little balls, make approx 10-12<\/p>\n<p>6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Add some grated Parmesan on top of each scone.<\/p>\n<p>7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Place on a lightly oiled baking tray<\/p>\n<p>8.\u00a0\u00a0 Bake in oven for 10-15 mins.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>These are delicious warm from the oven or served with some cream cheese and chutney.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Look out for more sweet and savoury scone recipes coming soon at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ilovemealplans.com\/\" onclick=\"__gaTracker('send', 'event', 'outbound-article', 'http:\/\/www.ilovemealplans.com\/', 'www.ilovemealplans.com');\">www.ilovemealplans.com<\/a><\/p>\n<div id=\"geo-post-1928\" class=\"geo geo-post\" style=\"display: none\"><span class=\"latitude\">0<\/span><span class=\"longitude\">0<\/span><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Victoria is our guest blogger this week.
